About Brandon Area Car Enthusiasts (BACE)

BACE was formed in 1999 by a few local car enthusiast who wanted to unite all the car clubs from Brandon and the surrounding area. The idea was to organize a yearly car show that they called the Assiniboine Valley Run, later changed to Collector Car Appreciation Day in 2022. One of the great-est achievements was the creation of the Downtown Cruise a few years later.

With the assistance of the City of Brandon, Rosser Avenue was closed on the first Thursday of June, July, August and September to allow vehicles from all over an opportunity to display their treasured ride, originally known as "Cruisin' The Dub". From those humble beginning of a few dozen cars to well over 300 for a number of the evenings, people coming from all over Manitoba, we normally see licence plates from many provinces and the USA. Participates and spectators come to see the large diverse display of vehicles that line Rosser Avenue, spectators each month is estimated to be over a thousand!

In 2007 the participants and the spectator population grew even higher! The largest turnout ever to be seen at a downtown cruise night, in the history of Brandon, took place on Friday, August 3rd. As this was the weekend of Super Run, over 600 vehicles squeezed into Brandon's downtown streets, and there was no chance of even counting the thousands of spectators there that night. Super Run, now renamed Western Canadian Nationals Car Show (WCN) held every three years on the August long weekend, the next WCN will be held on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2025, likely with even more cars to see, and even more spectators walking the streets of downtown Brandon checking them out.

BACE is a non-profit organization, but each year we donate $500.00 (the Road Rebel Car Club also provides $500.00 to make a total donation of $1,000.00 ) to the Crocus Plains Reginal High School Automotive Student Scholarship. 4 worthy students, 2 from Auto Tech and 2 from Auto Collision and one from each of 2 grades, 10 and 11. Each of these four students received a cheque for $250 for their outstanding performance in a number of area, technical knowledge, skill, attitude, punctuality, aptitude and other criteria.

The Elspeth Family Resource Centre hosts a charity fundraising and awareness barbecue at all Downtown Cruises.

Cruise Night in Downtown Brandon is held on Rosser Avenue, between 6th Street and 13th Street from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Typically starting in mid-May then the first Thursday of June, July, August and September. Custom, vintage, and antique cars, trucks, and motorcycles are the norm at the Cruise Night events, but be prepared to see anything and everything. People wishing to show their vehicles are encouraged to enter the event at the intersection of Rosser Avenue and 13th Street.
